I was cleaning my closet and ended up pulling out my giant puzzle keeper, which I use not to keep puzzles, but to store larger or older artwork. And I found a cat chaped thing I'd made years ago, on a gorgeous type of paper I don't recall buying. Friends, I stared at him for a solid 15 minutes, feeling the texture of surface, dazzled by the lack of accidental colour seepage.
And all at once I became utterly enthralled by the concept of making thing shaped things.
He's stark, he's clearly lined, he's definitely not serious or stupid. Behold my first work in a set that's definitely gonna get me drawing bears, foxes, cars, trains, hats and all the things I've never tried or completed simply because I held myself to the standard of "this has to look more or less precisely like the object or photo I'm drawing". I've names him Gerald, because he strikes me as a Gerald, and he is the first of many thing-shaped things that I have already zooming around in my brain.
Jazzed.
Now, to go through my sketchbooks and see if I even have that paper anymore, and if not, see about acquiring some more.
You don't even know right now,
